Ready to understand your body's signals and create more space for ease?

If I were to summarize my first time seeking somatic support (September 2019) it would be: "feeling like something was off, and needing someone to help shed light on it."

I was post a traumatic experience from a 200h Yoga Teacher Training (February 2018) which left me feeling more confused than anything; the ease I used to feel in regularly practicing yoga was no more (though I kept at it for a long while after).

I was also in traditional talk therapy making meaningful progress—vulnerably sharing the detail of the above + past traumatic events, feeling seen, and building a storyline that brought real emotional relief and confidence. Yet, despite this progress, I would leave sessions feeling disoriented, hyperalert (*"am I being watched? is something sinister happening around me?"*), and unable to focus for days. This was becoming a major hurdle as I tried to finish my Masters in Psychology of Mental Health.

Some people would have called me "too sensitive" or "lazy." University support services offered standard productivity tips: "Try 20-minute focus blocks" or "Just write down whatever comes up." What they didn't understand was that my body was leading my mind into a spiral of past experiences.

No productivity tip can override a nervous system that feels terrified.

My body was reacting the only way it knew how: either flying into frantic activity to distract myself, or completely freezing and dissociating.

Finding somatic practice changed everything. It gave me the missing piece: learning how to work with my body and nervous system directly, rather than trying to think or force my way out of a survival state. I felt agency once again.

This personal journey—combined with my bodywork background in therapeutic massage and integrative coaching (and academic knowledge in mental health) —is what shapes my gentle, trauma-informed somatic guidance today.
